This design intervention and wayfinding project, titled ‘A Walk Through Cabramatta’ is a mysterious, yet enticing invitation aimed towards current residents and new visitors within the renowned Western Sydney locale – a simple and concise phrase beckoning them to explore the enigmatic historical depths and diverse multicultural delights of Cabramatta. The project’s main objectives involve modernising and revitalising the suburb for younger generations, while also maintaining its unique cultural identity, festive traditions, and strong sense of belonging / geographical familiarity with the more elderly Asian immigrants. In achieving these goals, this project aims to enrich placemaking in Cabramatta through the implementation of dynamic large-scale interventions and uniquely identifiable wayfinding elements.
